Once in a while you might hear someone say, “You know, people just aren’t hungry for God and His Word anymore!”  Have You ever heard that? There’s one very effective remedy that nearly anyone ought to be able to employ: make them hungry!

If I start talking right now about all your favorite foods – “gut bombs”, “comfort foods” and all – and describe them enticingly enough, chances are good you’ll begin to feel a desire to indulge.  This is especially true if you haven’t eaten in a while. But if I keep my mouth shut, chances are nearly 100% that I will never hear you say, “Man! You’re making me hungry!”

Instead of waiting around for years to hear your friend or co-worker say, “Tell me about Jesus”, why don’t you start talking about how good He’s been? What if they won’t listen?

Proverbs 20:12 (KJV)

12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them.

When Jesus said, “He that hath ears to hears, let him hear” (Mat 11:15), remember that he had given that capacity to some and hidden it from others (Mat 13:11).

Matthew 20:16b (KJV)

16b …many be called, but few chosen.

Many are called; not “all”. This doesn’t render “whosoever will” meaningless; on the contrary: it emphasized the necessity for the church to reach out! (See Rev 22:17a). It’s time to call them! Go out and make somebody hungry today!
