Faith That Builds Children

Written by on April 15, 2021

More than likely have heard this bible verse;

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

While it’s a great verse, I think we sometimes take it the wrong way. We think, “oh if we just teach them right from wrong, they will be good.”

Or, if we take them to church, they will never backslide. But that isn’t always the case is it. You know someone if not your kids, who went to church every Sunday, and is now unaffiliated with church. Some may even want to have nothing to do with church. If we raised them in church, and taught them wrong from right, this verse is invalid, because its not true.

Well look at it this way. We teach our children facts, like 2+2 is 4. There’s no getting around it, there’s no going over, under, some back way 2+2 will always equal 4. The same thing applies to faith, and understanding in God. We teach our kids that we have a loving, forgiving father who wants to care of us, who wants to bless us, and wants to nurture us. You teach them that, its something they could never depart from. They couldn’t ever say well I was never taught about Jesus, love, heaven.

Train them up in the way they should go by teaching them right and wrong, and the things of the Lord, so when there older, they will never be able to get away from it. They cant ever undo the fact that you taught them about Jesus.
