Being known by God

Ruth Clemence - “Longing to be noticed, affirmed and loved is something that many of us may relate to throughout our lives. Whether we desperately want attention from a parent, to be accepted by our peers or to be loved in our relationships with others, we seek to be known and seen for who we are.

The real longing of our heart can only be fully met and satisfied in knowing Jesus and resting in the truth that we are known by Him. He sees us and understands us and the circumstances in life that we find ourselves in more than we do.”

Ruth 2:10-12 - Ruth fell at his feet and thanked him warmly. “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” she asked. “I am only a foreigner.”

“Yes, I know,” Boaz replied. “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband. I have heard how you left your father and mother and your own land to live here among complete strangers. May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.”

You can look at this scripture from so many different way. One way to look at this is that not only did God see Ruth and and all she was doing to go with her mother in law Naomi, but Boaz was seeing her as well. God sees us and knows us. He is our refuge. Others also see our walk in life and will take notice of what we are doing in kindness and love.

Psalm 139:13-14 “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”

“You know, I think we all have tendencies to think, “Oh, I wish I looked this way. I wish I had this gift. I wish I had what that person has.”  - David Platt

This quote is so true. We question and compare more than ever and especially now that we have social media in the palm of our hands. But what we need to be remember and think about is that God made us in His image. He formed us in the womb just as we should be. We should not question God because He is intentional in all things and with all things.

Isaiah 49:16 – “See, I have written/engraved your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins.”

“Being engraved carries a deeper implication than being written. Being engraved means it is “cut, carved” into God’s palm, implying permanence, something that cannot be erased.” – Denise Kohlmeyer

Permanent... wow! Jesus wants us with Him so much so that He marked our names on His palms and carried our sins to the cross.

His love for us is so deep. He knows who we are and exactly what we need. He is our provider, so much so that He provided Jesus to carry our sins.

God knows you and deeply loves you.
