I know we have been talking a bit about rest, anxiety, childlike faith and we are going to continue in that today because with the season changing and holidays coming, we can have lot of feelings and can feel weighted down a bit.
So today we’re talking about something I think we could all use a little more of that is living carefree in God! Sounds nice, right?
With everything going on in our lives, sometimes we forget that God doesn’t want us to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders."
So many of us struggle with worry and stress, but God calls us to live free of that weight. Today, we’ll be diving into what the Bible says about living carefree by trusting in God’s goodness and provision.
Let’s kick things off with this reminder from Matthew 6:34: “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” What a great reminder to focus on the present and let God handle the rest.
Where we live, we see deer from time to time and the other day we looked out and saw these 3 deer, a mom and 2 younger ones, just running and chasing each other in the field. It was so fun to watch them frolic and play. They had no care or worries, they just had fun.
God calls us to bring our worries to Him, and in return, He gives us peace—peace that goes beyond understanding. Imagine living life without the stress of worrying about every little thing. That’s what God offers us when we trust Him.
Let’s look at Philippians 4:6-7: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.”
If you’re feeling weighed down by life’s concerns today, remember this: God’s got you covered. He wants you to come to Him with your needs and then release those worries, knowing He will take care of you.
Just picture some deer getting the zoomies and running around in a field without a care in the world.
When we’re anxious, we can feel like the weight of the world is on us. But God invites us to let go of that anxiety and trust that He’s in control. When we hand over our worries, we make room in our hearts for peace, joy, and even a little carefree fun!
It’s kind of like carrying a backpack full of rocks and then realizing you’ve got a friend next to you saying, 'Hey, let me take that for you.' Why wouldn’t you hand it over?
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” Let’s pause on that for a moment: the God of the universe, who created everything, cares about you…You! He wants you to know that you are see and He cares.
Take a deep breath today. Whatever it is that’s on your mind—hand it over to God. He’s ready and willing to carry it for you. You weren’t meant to carry it alone.
If you’re feeling drained or weighed down today, take this as your reminder to give it to God. He’s offering you His rest—real, soul-refreshing rest. That’s the beauty of living carefree in His hands.
Let’s read Matthew 11:28-30: “Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
This passage shows us that Jesus doesn’t want us to struggle through life carrying heavy burdens. He offers us rest and a light burden. Living with a carefree spirit means trusting that He’s got the heavy lifting covered, and we can simply rest in His love.
Who wouldn’t want to trade in a heavy load for something light? It’s like swapping out a heavy winter coat for a comfy T-shirt on a sunny day! The change that comes from that is felt deep as the lighter we feel the better we feel.
Being carefree and not worrying about tomorrow to handing over our anxieties, God wants us to trust Him completely. When we do, we find peace, rest, and freedom that the world can’t give.
I have one more verse for y’all from Psalm 55:22: “Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” What a great reminder that God not only takes our burdens but also holds us up in His strength.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, remember that you don’t have to do it all alone. God’s ready to take those burdens off your shoulders and fill you with His peace. So go ahead—live a little carefree today, knowing God’s got everything under control!
