"Come to Me... and I will give you rest"

Matthew 11:28 NLT

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

How do you rest?

What do you do to be able to unwind and clear your mind?

With so much that can keep us distracted and engaged we need to be able to disconnect and rest.

I know that some Pastors and even teachers take sabbaticals in order to reset and refocus but what if you aren't able to take that much time. What can you do?

Being in nature I would say would be the quickest way to decompress and reset.

There is just something about being outside that takes away the urgency so always be doing something.

If you can unplug for even 5 to 10 minutes then I think you have been able to find a little rest.

There are 5 different types of rest that is needed.

Physical rest, Mental rest, Emotional rest, Sensory rest, Creative rest, Social rest, and Spiritual rest.

There are so many different ways to go about these and they are needed.

I want to focus on the Spiritual rest...this to me does not mean to take a Spiritual break...to me this means to find Spiritual rest in the Lord.

Go to your Bible read the scriptures and find rest in the Lord. Sit and pray. Sit in silence. Enjoy time with someone else because even in community we can find rest.

The word rest is mentioned 275 times in the Bible....that means we need to take that to heart and work toward being able to rest.

God rested, Jesus rested and if the creator of the universe rests and tells us to rest then we shouldn't feel guilty about it.

It can be hard to turn our to do list off but that stuff will still be there...your moment to rest may not be.

I encourage you to take the time needed. Rest your body, soul and mind. Rest assured that the Lord will take care and provide all you need. Give thanks to the Lord for all He has done and will do.
