Finding Joy

James 1:2-4 - Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

I have heard this pretty much my whole life growing up in church and I wondered for the longest time why? Why are we to consider troubles joyful? I truly didn’t really understand how that would help me be a better Christian. But then of course I don’t think I was reading the whole passage in context because if I would have kept going, I would have known that my faith being tested built up my strength in the Lord and then I would learn how to fight battles mentally and spiritually with God by my side.

There have been may times when I have faced trials and I had to remind myself to try to find God in it so that I could see His hand in it and then I could feel a little happier. I ask fore wisdom a lot and in James 1:5-6 it says, If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.

So, I know that if I am going to ask for it I better believe God will give it and then I should be careful and use it for the reason why I asked for it.

Know that when you are struggling, and your troubles are many that God is in it. Think about how with Him there will be victory and then the worry and strife you are facing will be less and the joy in the Lord will be more. God is the one we seek when we need to find joy. With Him all things are possible and with Him we will have joy, love, wisdom, and compassion in all things. His perspective is what we need to find that joy in our trials. Allow God to walk you through all things and in all things.
