Finding TRUE Security

We live in a world that tells us security comes from bank accounts, job titles, or even alarm systems. But real, lasting security? That only comes from God. So, let's talk about where true safety comes from.
When fear creeps in, remember today’s scripture, Psalm 4:8:"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe."
Rest easy knowing God’s got you covered.
We all love a good security system, right? But no matter how many locks or passwords we have, there’s only one real source of peace—and that’s the Lord.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not one who likes intense movies, scary or not. The intensity can just be too much. Usually, if I do watch something like that, I have to put on a lighthearted, funny movie right after. I don’t even care what time of day it is!
Have you ever double-locked every door in the house after watching a scary movie—and still had a hard time sleeping? Isn’t it funny how even with all our precautions, true peace only comes when we trust God?
Sometimes we put our trust in things that feel secure—like money, jobs, or relationships—but they can all shift.
When we keep our minds on these things for security, we feel lost and out of control when they change. Because the reality is, those are just things. They might secure our house, car, or relationships, but they don’t bring true, lasting peace.
God is the only constant who promises to keep us safe and secure our hearts and minds. And with that kind of security, we’re able to withstand any changes that come our way.
Have you ever thought something would make you feel secure, but it ended up letting you down? Let’s talk about how God never fails us.
I used to depend on doing things for people. If I could do enough, I thought my relationships would be secure because I’d be seen as valuable. The thing is, nothing ever seemed enough to meet my expectations, so I never felt truly secure.
God pointed out to me that nothing I could do would fill that void—only coming to Him would. Only He can make us feel truly secure. Because God never fails, and what I was seeking could only be found in Him.
He’s the only one who can fill every part of us.
Security with God isn’t just about physical safety—it’s about emotional and spiritual security too.
I’m sure many of us have faced times when everything around us felt like chaos, but we still felt steady because we knew God was in control.
That’s what it means to find our security in Christ.
Life throws curveballs—health scares, job losses, broken relationships. But God’s promise is that He never changes, even when everything else does.
I’ve gotten a few prayer requests from our radio listeners recently about how chaotic their lives feel right now. But in every one of those requests, they’re standing strong because they know God is with them. It’s a beautiful reminder that when you know you’re not alone—and God is walking with you—chaos turns into peace in the storm.
Sometimes our security gets tested to show us where it truly lies.
Think of Job in the Bible. God allowed Satan to take everything from Job because Satan claimed Job’s security was in his blessings. But Job, though broken, never stepped away from his faith. He knew that even if everything was taken from him, his security in God would never be.
Our peace isn’t tied to our circumstances—it’s anchored in God. Breathe deep and trust that you’re safe in His hands.
Now, let’s talk about practical ways to rest in God’s security every day.
It’s easy to say "trust God," but when the bills pile up or the news gets scary, it’s hard. Let’s be honest about that struggle—and still choose faith.
When life amps us up and we feel anxious, it’s easy to lose our grip on trust. We have to be so secure in our trust in God that we believe it—not just say it. We can say all the right things, but there’s a deeper shift when we actually believe them.
Learning to trust God even in the little things—like trusting Him with your kids while they’re at school or a loved one who’s traveling—really shows where our security lies.
God doesn’t promise a trouble-free life, but He does promise to walk with us through it all. That’s the kind of security money can’t buy.
So let’s not just talk about trusting God. Let’s live it, believing it in every little detail of our lives. That’s how others will see where our true security is found.
As we learn to trust the Lord with all aspects of our lives, keep this encouragement in mind: You are held by a God who never sleeps, never forgets you, and never lets go.
When we fully realize that God is always present and knows our every need, we’ll be able to rest easy, knowing we are safe in Him.
As we wrap up today, remember: Security isn’t about having all the right locks—it’s about trusting the One who holds tomorrow.
Go about your day today knowing you are safe in God’s care.
