Have you done something or even given something just to do it and expect nothing in return?
Matthew 6:3 says, “But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.”
One time I sent a thank you card to someone, and I did it because I wanted to. I wasn’t expecting to hear that the person got the card, and I was fine with that…it was just a thank you card. But I did keep catching myself wondering if they got my card and if they were going to say something.
Sometimes we can do things just to be kind and not really expecting anything but in the back of our minds we are hopeful to get something in return, even if it is just a thank you.
Matthew 6:4 says, “Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”
Give what you are able to give and let God be the only one to see.
When I was younger one of my grandmothers would give me money for my birthday and then try to direct me on how to spend the money. I never quite understood that, but I would respectfully listen. Usually, she would want to buy a dress or something. I’ve never been a dress wearing girl, but she would try.
Thinking about it now I can see she just wanted me to have something nice and her heart was always in the right place of giving but her expectation and she wanted from that giving wasn’t what I wanted.
When I feel like my giving and expectations might be a little jumbled up, I try to remember that we are to give just to give and expect nothing in return.
Luke 6:36 says, “You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.”
We here at KJIC are a listener supported non-profit ministry. We love hearing from our listeners as to how this station has blessed their lives and none of that is possible if we didn’t have donations coming in.
It is the giving just to give that really helps us to continue to play all that you hear and reach so many not only across the US but across the world.
Deuteronomy 15:10 says, “Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”
So, I want to say thank you to our supporters. You make a difference, and we greatly appreciate it so very much. Thank you to all who listen as we are praying that you are blessed by what we offer to you here at KJIC.
