God is Enough

I found this quote by someone named Kim it says, “God’s power does not find its full expression in good times – nor in harvest seasons.  No, the power of Jesus Christ finds its full expression when we are weak.”

When I was younger, I sought approval. I wanted to know that I was seen and loved by my friends and family. It was something that I wanted to achieve, but I never seemed to be able to grasp what I wanted.

I was in college when I realized that seeking approval from others was not healthy. I had low self-esteem and struggled for so long, wanting to be done with seeking approval. It took some hard times for me to look to the Lord and know that He is enough. Then it took me years to grow in confidence that the Lord was all I needed and that He was enough, which then made me realize I am enough.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

It was reading and believing the Scriptures that God gave in His Word that really opened my eyes to being fulfilled by God.

Once I came to realize that God was all I needed to fulfill all that I was seeking, my perspective changed. I no longer felt that I needed someone to tell me something to feel approved.

I became more focused on pleasing the Lord above anything else.

2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”

Becoming aware that God is the provider of all really does change the thought process that we have. We are no longer dependent on our needs or what this world offers, for we know that God is the one and only one who will fulfill and quench our thirst.

When I was thinking about knowing God is enough, I remembered the story in the Bible about the lady who bled for 12 years.

In Matthew 9:20-22, it says, “Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, ‘If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.’ Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, ‘Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.’ And the woman was healed at that moment.”

She knew that all she needed was to touch Him, and that would be enough.

He would heal and provide all she needed. That is faith in knowing that God is all we need.
