God's love, purpose and pursuit for our lives

Today, we are talking about the profound truth that God desires a relationship with each of us, calling us into His love, grace, and purpose.

The fact that God wants you. No matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or how you see yourself, God has chosen you and desires a relationship with you.

Isaiah 43:1 says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.” Isn’t that powerful? God calls each of us by name and claims us as His own.

Today, we’ll explore what it means to be wanted by God, how He pursues us, and the purpose He has for our lives. Let’s dive into this beautiful truth together.

God actively pursues a relationship with us, demonstrating His deep love and desire for us.

Jeremiah 31:3 says, "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself."

God’s love is everlasting and unchanging. He draws us to Himself through love, not condemnation.

Stories of God pursuing and transforming a life can be told by so many. But let’s pinpoint one really quick: Zacchaeus of the Bible. This man was a tax collector, and in Bible times, tax collectors were the worst of the worst as far as the people were concerned. Jesus came through the town he was in, and Zacchaeus wanted to see Him, so he climbed a tree to make sure not to miss Jesus. Jesus saw Zacchaeus, and from then on Zacchaeus was changed. He devoted his life to Jesus and was willing to give up everything. That is the life of a follower of Jesus: to leave all behind and follow Him.

Spend time reflecting on moments when you’ve felt God’s love drawing you closer. How have you experienced God’s pursuit in your life?

Jesus came to find us, not to wait for us to find Him.

We see that in the scripture in Luke 19:10, which says, "For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost."

God’s pursuit shows His initiative and intentionality.

The parable of the lost sheep depicts this perfectly. It is found in Luke Chapter 15, specifically in verses 3–7, but really it is illustrated throughout this chapter. Verses 3–7 say:

So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”

What does it mean to you that Jesus seeks you personally?

Meditate on Jesus’ willingness to seek you out and thank Him in prayer.

Embrace the truth that you are deeply loved and sought after by God.

God’s love is relentless, pursuing you with grace and calling you by name.

Matthew 11:28 says, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

God invites us to walk with Him and experience His grace and purpose. God’s invitation is open to everyone, especially those who are weary. Jesus offers rest and renewal for our souls.

Accepting Christ into your life brings not only transformation but also peace. You will find yourself more at peace than ever before, but it will need to be something you ask for daily from the Lord until you just know without a doubt that God has everything taken care of. I have anxiety, and sometimes that creeps up—it can be gradual or fast. When it’s gradual, I can adjust and pray and be okay because I know God is in all things. But when it comes on fast, I struggle. I pray and pray and pray for peace because most of the time this has come on due to unknowns, or my thoughts are out of control. My point here is when I accepted Christ into my life fully, I was able to seek Him first in all of this and not let it all consume me.

So even though I still struggle, there is peace behind it. It is a daily prayer that I pray to let God lead me.

Start each day by accepting God’s invitation to walk with Him. What burden can you bring to Jesus today?

God patiently waits for us to respond to His knock.

Revelation 3:20 says, "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends."

The imagery of sharing a meal illustrates intimacy and fellowship.

I found a story of a woman who didn’t grow up in church or in a home that followed God, but when she was in 7th grade, her parents put her into a Christian private school due to her struggling grades. She heard about Jesus through this school and gave her life to Christ when she was 13. She said she had brief stints of hearing about Jesus at school or when she attended church with a friend. As she goes on to share, she said one summer she went to stay with her grandmother, and while there, she would see her reading her Bible. She talked with her grandmother about it some. She knew her grandmother’s prayers played a huge role in her life as she lived in the world for a long time after that. When she was in her late 20s or early 30s, God started the true transformation that she shares about today.

We all have our stories, and I would love to hear your transformation story. Share it with me at rachel@kjic.org.

If you are still seeking transformation, how can you open the door of your heart to Jesus today? Create a quiet moment and listen for God’s voice and respond to what He has to offer you.

I want to encourage you to respond to God’s invitation daily. It will transform everything because your focus will be on Him.

God invites you into His presence, offering rest, renewal, and relationship.

Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."

God wants us because He has a plan and purpose for our lives. We are God’s masterpiece, uniquely created for His purposes. God’s plans bring fulfillment and meaning to our lives.

One story in the Bible of an individual stepping into God’s purpose and making an impact is Queen Esther. She did as the Lord wanted, bravely intervening to protect her (the Israelites) people from genocide. You can read all about her story in the book of Esther.

Ask God to reveal one way you can live out His purpose today.

Isaiah 6:8 says, "Then I heard the Lord asking, ‘Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?’ I said, ‘Here I am. Send me.’"

God calls us to be His messengers and vessels of His love. Say "yes" to God’s purpose, even when it feels overwhelming.

Obedience to God's call leads to transformation and blessing by aligning oneself with God's will, which results in personal growth, deeper spiritual connection, and the experience of God's favor in various aspects of life, including peace, joy, and provision. Essentially, it allows God to work through you and shape you into the person He intends you to be.

Write down one way you can answer God’s call in your daily life.

Trust God’s plans and walk in obedience.

You are called by God for a purpose that brings glory to Him and fulfillment to you.

I want you to remember this: God wants you. He pursues you, invites you, and has a purpose for your life. You are deeply loved, uniquely created, and called to walk with Him.

Let’s embrace God’s love and respond to His call today.
