His Timing Not Mine

Patience...

When I was little my sisters and I would listen to this tape of songs from the The Music Machine, about the Fruits of the Spirit. There was a song on it about patience. It said, "Have patience, have patience, don't be in such a hurry. When you get impatient, you only start to worry. Remember, remember that God is patient too and think of all the times when others have to wait for you."

We would always beg to listen to this song. My husband also listened to this when he was little and we now sing that little tune to our kids.

It can be hard to patiently wait. In the waiting we become impatient. In the waiting we jump and do too soon.

God has a plan for all things and in all things. We can be impatient waiting on God's timing but as the Bible says, God's ways are better than our ways...

In the waiting there is work to be done, there is work to be done by God and by us. God needs to make sure we are ready for what He has for us. He needs to make sure where we are going is ready for us. He has perfect timing which is why we need to practice and hone our patience.

1Timothy 1:16 reads, But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

We are an impatient people and God gives us mercy, amen. Then once we learn patience we are able to set the example. If we are able to show patience we can then more easily convey to others the patience that is needed when they are in the waiting. When we can connect on a level of "I had patience and this happened through God", then we have a way of demonstrating the power of God and His goodness and mercy.

Practice patience and let God handle it all.
