Rise and Shine spent time talking about WAITING today. In Psalm 37 The Bible says "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him"
I've spent a lot of time in waiting rooms lately, and I admit I'm not good at waiting. I'm not alone, it's so difficult for a society that paces in front of our microwave to wait. We order our groceries and pick them up without ever going into the store so we don't have to wait in line. We buy on line so it's delivered the next day to our doorstep, no waiting! We have apps for almost every restaurant, Coffee shop and store so we can order ahead of time and NO WAIT.
But the Bible says be STILL and wait. Obviously, that's not talking about waiting for your name to be called in a doctor's office, it's not talking about standing in-line at a store just so you can wait.
The Bible is talking about waiting for our Lord Jesus to come again. In I Corinthians 1:7 we're reminded, "So you have every gift from God while you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to come again" and in Lamentations 3:25 it says "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks him."
Like children waiting for someone they are anxious to see, we are to be like children of the father who is sending Jesus to us again, to take us home. And that isn't easy to wait for .
But if we continue to work for the Lord as we wait we can actually bring the day sooner. God is waiting so that no one will be lost. There is so much we can do for God as we wait. We can wait patiently and work purposely. There are souls to be won and life to be lived as Jesus taught us .... We can work even as we Wait knowing, He is coming!
