I was looking at a little black piece of coffee grounds as it floated on the surface of my First cup of Coffee this morning. I admit I love my Morning Coffee, and the little bit of grounds is not off-putting. It's just a little piece of the beans I grind to make a fresh brew. I was just going to let it go...after all one tiny little fleck of grounds won't ruin the whole cup....
But, wait! Does that little chunk of coffee have legs? Hey! that bean has antennae ! NO NO. That is not coffee! It's a tiny, dead bug...and it has contaminated my whole cup of coffee. I can't drink this, there's a bug in it!
You know, It is kind of like sin in our life; as small as it appears, once we know that we've allowed it to spoil the grace filled life Jesus wants for us - it's time to see it for what it is. "small sin", "little white lie" , "no one saw it" whatever you could have used to ignore it is gone now. That tiny sin is that little yukky bug, even the littlest is too much. But there is grace and forgiveness.
It's good to know that while you can't clean up buggy coffee...you can ask forgiveness for the sins in life. Jesus says if you ask He will forgive. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
tomorrow I'm using a better filter....no more coffee beans with legs!
