Walking Blindly

“If we had the choice to walk blindly or by sight, many of us would choose to see. It’s scary to walk blindly because we can’t see what’s ahead. While it may seem safer to have our eyes to rely on, we are called to walk blindly with the Lord.”

Have you ever seen the game on TV where people have to walk through an obstacle course blindfolded? They have to listen to someone else calling out directions to follow, but at the same time, there are three other people doing the same thing.

Sometimes, being led by the Lord while hearing others or our own inner thoughts pulling us in different directions feels a lot like this game.

1 Corinthians 14:33 says, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.”

When we focus on the Lord, we will learn that with Him, there is clarity and no confusion.

God wants us to learn to trust Him, which requires us to step into the unknown and believe He will come through.

We must remember that we are called to walk blindly with the Lord, trusting that He sees what we don’t. It’s normal to move forward without knowing everything. God wants us to depend on Him more and less on ourselves. We shouldn’t wait until everything makes sense before we follow God.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”

It’s only when we are willing to surrender our ways to God that we will be able to see Him do wonders in our lives.

There have been many moments in my life where I had no plan, no clue what to do next. Despite being somewhat of a planner, I haven’t planned a lot of things to get to where I am today. My forward motion and success have come from letting God lead me, sometimes intentionally and sometimes not.

The unknown typically worried me, but looking back, I have always relied on my faith to see me through. That blind innocence has steered me to rely on the Lord. It’s funny to think that I like to have some control, but at the same time, I am super laid back.

I think God uses both traits to guide me.

Galatians 5:25 says, “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”

Letting the Spirit lead us helps us to walk with confidence, whether we know what we are walking into or not.
