You Are A Warrior!

We’re talking about what it means to be a warrior. No, not with swords and shields, though that would be pretty cool—but the kind of warrior who faces life’s battles with faith, courage, and determination.

Today’s scripture is Ephesians 6:11 (NLT) — "Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."

We all have struggles, but with the right mindset and the armor of God, we can stand strong. So, get ready for some encouragement, and let’s dive into what it really means to have a warrior spirit!

You don’t have to fight alone—God has given us everything we need to stand strong. Let’s talk about what it means to be a spiritual warrior.

I remember a time when I felt completely overwhelmed, like I was fighting a battle I couldn’t win. I knew I was doing all the right things—you know, praying, reading the Bible—but the spiritual battle I was facing felt like too much for me to handle. Then I realized—I wasn’t supposed to fight alone. God was with me, giving me strength. Have you ever faced a battle that felt impossible?

I would like to recommend the Bible study The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer. It really helped me as I was learning what I could do by allowing God to fight my battles.

What Makes a Warrior?

Good question! I know we immediately think of those in the military, but when it comes to spiritual battles, we are all warriors. Sometimes, the warrior in us comes out just by getting up and facing another day. Warriors don’t always look like what we expect, and that’s because being a warrior is about resilience, faith, and the willingness to keep going.

I was reading the other day, and the topic of this particular section of the book was integrity. This quote from the book is great:

"God is prepared to guard and deliver an honest heart—a heart of integrity—and to defend that heart against the possibility of delusion. This powerful truth holds the promise for each of us that the Lord will keep our life 'on-line' amid the swirling seas of confusion seemingly omnipresent in our world."

So, in that, we are all warriors from time to time, even if we don’t know it. And God sees us and is with us.

Being a warrior isn’t about never feeling fear—it’s about moving forward in faith despite the fear. Whatever battle you’re facing, God is with you, fighting alongside you.

I want to hear from you—what battle have you fought and overcome? Maybe it’s been a tough season, but you’re still standing. That’s warrior strength.

Maybe this is the season you are in right now, and you can see how God is working.

We’re diving deeper into the warrior mindset. Strength isn’t just about muscles—it’s about heart, faith, and perseverance. Let’s talk about how we can equip ourselves for battle.

Some of the strongest warriors I know are prayer warriors. Both of my grandmothers were prayer warriors—they didn’t wear armor, but they fought battles on their knees, praying for everyone they loved.

I remember hearing one of my grandmothers praying one time, and it was so clear and focused, like she was sitting with God, having a loving conversation. I just remember thinking, Wow, I want to pray like that one day.

I’m still working toward that, but I can tell you this—when we talk with God like He is our Father and friend, it makes that conversation come more naturally.

Ephesians 6:10-18 tells us to put on the full armor of God. We’ve got a belt of truth, a breastplate of righteousness, and even a sword—the Word of God. Let’s break it down and see how we can use it in our daily lives.

There is the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s Word.

So, God gives us all of these to protect us and to stand on when we face battles.

Standing firm in faith helps through tough times at work, at home, and really anywhere. Sometimes, our battles aren’t physical but mental and emotional.

Whatever battle you’re fighting, you’re not alone.

"There is one who is behind the scenes, striving to direct the details of some of your most acute difficulties. Everything that occurs in the visible, physical world is directly connected to the wrestling match being waged in the invisible, spiritual world." —Priscilla Shirer, The Armor of God Devotional

God is with you and has equipped you with everything you need to stand strong. Keep pressing on, warrior!

We’ve talked about what it means to be a warrior—now let’s look at how we can keep our strength up when the battle feels long.

Let’s be real—being a warrior isn’t easy. There are days when you feel like giving up. But that’s why we need each other and why we need to lean on God’s strength. Through Him, we will have victory over every battle we face.

Not all battles are big ones. Sometimes, the hardest fight is just getting out of bed in the morning, facing another workday, or dealing with that one difficult person in your life. But every little victory counts.

So true—when I finish a task sometimes, I sigh really big and then say, OK, that’s done. The relief that comes with a victory is what helps push us forward to face the next one that may come.

Jesus was the ultimate warrior—He faced rejection, pain, and even death, but He never gave up. Because of Him, we have the strength to keep fighting, too.

Because of Him, we are able to follow His example. I don’t know about you, but I often think about how Jesus handled certain situations in the Bible and how He always made time for everyone He felt He should. It’s so great to know that we have His Word to lead and guide us.

Know that you are stronger than you think. You have everything you need to fight your battles—faith, courage, and a God who stands beside you. Keep going, warrior!

As we wrap up, remember this: warriors aren’t fearless—they just refuse to give up. Whatever you’re facing, you’re not alone. Keep fighting the good fight, stay strong in your faith, and know that God is always with you.
